6-7 Mile BOC Hike – Saturday, October 25th at 10:00AM (State Gamelands 95 – Hilliards,PA)

Please join us at the Leonard Road NCT trailhead for a hike past 7 passively treated AMD discharges and 3 untreated AMD discharges. This hike is part of the Slippery Rock Coalition’s 30th Anniversary celebration. The Coalition designs, installs and maintains engineered passive treatment systems that annually keep 500 tons of metals and acids from flowing into Slippery Rock Creek. The hike is Out-Back, no shuttle.

BOC Bike Ride – Saturday, November 1st at 11:00AM (Stavich Bike Trail)

The November bike ride is going to be on the Stavich bike trail, 10 miles each way. The bike trail goes from New Castle to Lowellville, Ohio. We are going to do it on Saturday, Nov. 1st at 11am. Let Rich know if you are coming in case we have to cancel because of the weather, email Rich at  rich1946.rt@gmail.com. To get there from Portersville. Take 422 west to exit 13A, turn right onto 224 west and go 0.8 miles. Turn left onto Washington St and go 1.4 miles, look for the parking lot on the right. There are no bathrooms on the trail head. It would be a good idea to go along 224 at one of the businesses. If you have any questions email Rich. The day of the ride he will have my cell phone on 412-629-1125.
