BOC Earth Day Week Hike – Tuesday, April 22nd at 10:30AM (NCT – Rt. 528 Trailhead)

Please join us for an Earth Week hike along the North Country Trail to support the “Hike for Literacy” fundraiser for the North Trails public library of North Sunbury PA. The hike is open to all. The 6-mile hike will start at 10:30am, Tuesday April 22, from the NCT 528 trailhead (2490 Prospect Rd). We’ll hike north toward the Jennings Environmental Education Center.

The hike is out and back on the same trail, hike the 6 miles (3 miles out, 3 miles back)  or turn back and return as you wish. There’s a Lake Arthur overlook 0.4 miles from the trailhead. Please consider helping the Butler Outdoor Club support the North Trails Public Library by checking out the following web address.

BOC April Bike Ride – Saturday, April 26th at 11:00AM (Panhandle Trail)

The BOC April Bike Ride will be on the Panhandle Trail. We will be starting in Oakdale Pa. We will ride 10 miles to Burgettstown and 10 miles back to Oakdale. Please send email to rich1946.rt@gmail.com and let us know if you are coming in case we have to cancel because of weather. To get there from 79 south take the exit toward the Airport, go 3 exits getting off at the 22/30 exit on top of the hill stay on 22/30 and get off at the Oakdale Exit. Make a left onto McKee Rd. to PA978 in Oakdale. Bear left and make a right, parking lot on the left. If the parking lot is full. Park in the lot on the right side of road.

BOC Membership Meeting – Wednesday, April 30th at 6:00PM (Jennings Environmental Education Center)

Our next BOC membership meeting will be on April 30th at Jennings Environmental Education Center. We’ll have a brief BOC meeting at 6 PM followed by our guest speaker – Josh Beuschlein.
Josh is an Environmental Education Specialist at Jennings Environmental Education Center. He enjoys working with groups of all ages and sharing his passion and curiosity of the natural world with others through his programming. One topic that is of particular interest to Josh is one that is easily overlooked! ANTS! These tiny & industrious insects have so many secrets to share with those who care to look! Be prepared to fall down the ant hole and discover a new found appreciation for these small creatures.
